MISSION: To inspire emerging adults in their late teens and twenties to become strong leaders and managers of their own lives by helping them to find the clarity, confidence and determination they will need to achieve success and fulfillment in college and in their careers and personal lives.
METHODS: The content and activities that guide the ELI combine proven methods of teaching and learning with insights from the latest thinking about the competencies of effective leaders. Adventure based learning and group process are methods central to the institute’s mission. The learning that occurs is best described as transformational. Those who experience the power of this institute go away with newfound confidence and clarity about who they are and what they want to accomplish in life. Words that have been used to describe the ELI experience include: “intense”, “challenging”, “fulfilling”, “revealing”, “eye-opening”, “emotional”, “enlightening”, “inspirational”.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS: As a result of the ELI participants will gain:
1) An improved sense of self-awareness as evidenced by a written Leader Brand Platform. (A document that includes a personal mission statement accompanied by lists of personal attributes, values, talents, career-life ambitions, interests, styles etc.)
2) An improved sense of future direction as evidenced by a written Lifework Strategic Plan. (A document that includes long and short term goals and objectives complete with action steps etc.)
3) A better understanding of personality style as evidenced by an interpretive report on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment.
4) A clear understanding of vocational interests as evidenced by an interpretive report on the Strong Vocational Interest test.
5) A strong positive reaction to the benefit of the institute as evidenced by the results of pre and post institute surveys.
VALUE ADDED: As a result of the ELI participants will:
1) Become more aware of beliefs that may be self-limiting and develop strategies to override them with a stronger sense of self-efficacy.
2) Develop skills in self and social awareness, and self and social management.
3) Engage in skillful communication using active listening and empathy, and to give and receive feedback.
4) Foster and support the development and growth of others
ELI OPTIONS AND FEES:
CORE OPTION: Emerging Leader Institute (Maximum 12) $595
Full day (7 hrs) group seminar (including lunch).
Full day (7 hrs) 4 hrs on “ropes challenge course” and 3 hr seminar (includes lunch)
Half day (4 hrs) follow-up within two weeks of the institute. (date and time TBA)
Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessment with 20+ page interpretive report ($100 value).
Strong Vocational Interest Inventory assessment with 20+ page interpretive report ($100 value).
NOTE: The 2 ½ day CORE OPTION provides a powerful stan- alone transformational growth experience for participants. A solid foundation for beginning the work on a Leader Brand Platform and a Lifework Strategic Plan will be established, however, participants who do not choose either of the follow-up options below will need to devote additional independent time to complete these tasks thoroughly.
GROUP FOLLOW-UP OPTION: Transformational Leader Group (TLG) Follow-up Coaching $295
4 – 90 minute small group (max 6 people) coaching sessions with members of the ELI group
NOTE: The TLG option is offered for those participants who wish to stay together for an additional four sessions (6hrs) to strengthen the bonds established during the ELI, and to use the power of group process to challenge and support each other through the completion phase of their Leader Brand Platforms and the Leader Brand Strategic Plans. (Dates and times TBA)
Individual Follow-up Coaching Option:
4 – 75 minute individual coaching sessions: $395
NOTE: The individual follow-up coaching option is designed to extend and deepen the meaning made for individual participants during the ELI through individual sessions with Dr. Harvey. (Dates and times TBA)
