Lifework
"Lifework," as I define it, is what we do each day from the time we wake up until the time we go to sleep. The roles we assume in our careers, families, leisure activities, and community together comprise our lifework. Our capacity to be skillful leaders and managers in each of these roles determines the degree of fulfillment and happiness we experience. Using my expertise in teaching, coaching, and counseling, I guide clients through the process of 1) defining what they want most in work and in life; 2) understanding what it will take to achieve what they want; 3) developing the important relationships that will support and sustain them, and 4) using their own strengths and skills to believe in and take successful action.
In Lifework Guidance my overall goal is to help clients become the skilled managers and leaders of the organization called "me," the most important organization they will ever lead and manage.
Individual Lifework Guidance
Learning to lead and manage the one-of-a-kind "me" is at the heart of my work with individuals. My objectives are to elicit from individuals - in one-on-one relationships:
- a sense of clarity of purpose;
- an understanding about who are they and how they define their unique interests, talents, attributes, styles and beliefs;
- an awareness of their levels of conviction about how they want most to succeed, in both work and life;
- an accounting of their important relationships and how these will support and sustain them;
- fleshing out the steps they will need to take to acquire what they want most.;
- an abiding confidence in their ability to take those steps.
Lifework Guidance Groups
Though my objectives remain the same as with individuals, Lifework Guidance with small groups (6-10) brings the power of group dynamics to the process of learning to lead and manage "me". Working with others adds the elements of camaraderie and support and also lends itself to skill building in areas associated with social intelligence (e.g. giving and receiving feedback, empathy, active listening, teambuilding, conflict resolution).
